73b.  And if the fly were to snatch away something from them, they cannot rescue it from it. So weak are (both) the seeker and the sought! 73b.  Wa  ‘iny-yaslub-humuz-zubaabu  shay-‘al-laa  yastan-qizuuhu  minh.  Za-‘ufat-taalibu  wal-mat-luub.

Commentary

Laa  yastan-qizuu – (they cannot rescue). Actually this word is laa  yastan-qizuuna, which has been abbreviated due to the word “‘in”. Origin of this word is naqzun which means “to leave”. ‘Istinqaazun means “to recue”.

Due to misleading/ instructing by someone or inside weaknesses, the mankind commits some such works that if he had used his sense, he would not have gone near them. Not only this but behind this work, sometimes he becomes as much mad that warners are tired by causing to understand them, but they do not withdraw from it. Allaah Almighty commands to His Messengers (peace be upon them): You should cause to know them continuously. Perhaps any of them accept the Truth and he is relieved from distress.

One neglectful work from those works is; adoring the idols. If the mankind will use his sense correctly, he will understand it immediately that it is a useless work.

It was narrated earlier: Think for awhile! Neither these idols are useful for themselves and nor for any other. Even these cannot produce a fly, which is very little animal. It has been described in this verse: If the fly were to snatch away or eat something from their religious offerings, they cannot rescue it from it. They are unable to think that a fly is a weak animal. If a person sets his hand in motion, it dies at the spot. Moreover, one should think that if the worshiped (idols) are so weak, then what will be condition of their worshipers?

Commentary

In reality, there were many good qualities in the inhabitants of Arab, but it had become their habit that they used to adore the idols. It was the reason that their entire good qualities were faded before idol-worshiping. It was plenty that they had in their hearts regard for good habits but evil deeds were disagreeable to them. They used to praise the mutual sympathy, generosity, bravery, hospitality and looking after the poor people. That person was honored by them who used to perform above mentioned works.

When Holy Qur’an also praised the good manners, they were glad, and by looking Muhammad (grace, glory, blessings and peace be upon him) adorned with good manners, they got ready to give him respect and honor. But when they were warned that they should not worship idols, because adoring them is against the dignity of high-minded people, then they were enraged; as much that it became difficult to conciliate them. After all they were caused to understand the fact concerning the idols.

It was said to them: You should pay heed to it that these idols have been fabricated by your own hands. Allaah Almighty created the entire universe by an astonishing glory, but the idols don’t know even how to create a fly, which is a very contemptible thing. Not only can’t the idols create it but none other than Allaah Almighty can create any living thing though the entire people of the world combine together for this purpose. They all will be unsuccessful.

Commentary

It was commanded previously that when these idolaters hear the Revelations of Holy Qur’an, they are troubled in mind and become mad completely in the rage. It seems that they will begin to beat now to the person who recites the Revelations.

It has been commanded in this verse: Say O Muhammad (grace, glory, blessings and peace be upon him) to these people: Which you are feeling yourselves in vexation by hearing the Revelations of Holy Qur’an, worse burning than it will be by another thing. I explain before you if you ask! You are feeling pain at this time because your passions have been connected with immoral and good-for-nothing matters. If you turn your thoughts away from such matters, then your entire confusions and anxieties will scamper off immediately. But if you did not give up these useless matters, then as true and clear Revelations of Qur’an have been troubling in your mind at this time, worse than it; that thing will burn you in punishment of your wicked deeds, which I wish to describe. Listen to me! That thing is “the Fire of the Hell”.

It is a strong promise of Allaah Almighty that the Fire of the Hell will be appointed on those people who do not desire to hear true Revelations of Holy Qur’an in this world. And they are displeased with the person who causes to hear them the commandments mentioned in Holy Qur’an. Hear also after it that the worst abode in the life after death will be “the Hell”. Your enmity with Holy Qur’an will carry and cast you into it. Therefore you should use your sense correctly. Why have you been planting thorns in favor of yourselves?

Behold! You have a good chance at this time to save yourselves. If you will not be careless, then you will see that how the Revelations of Holy Qur’an quench your hearts in the world, and how easily you can escape from the Hell on the Doomsday.

Commentary

‘Al-munkar – (the denial, bad sign), it is past participle from the word “’inkaar”, which has passed in Surah Tawbah. It aims “displeasure, effects of wrath, worse matter”.

Yas-tuuna – (they attack), origin of this word is sat-wun which means “to attack”, that is to say, they become angry as it seems that they will begin to beat.

When any matter takes one’s heart, then he does not like to hear against it whether that is right or wrong. And he rages upon that person who says against that what is in his heart. It seems from his face-reading that he is about to beat. The same condition was of the idolaters of Makkah. They were out of opposition that they would never give up the traditions and ways of adoration, which their forefathers had introduced. They were caused to hear the Revelations mentioned in Holy Qur’an, in which there were open teachings concerning Oneness of God Almighty and reproof on adoring the idols.

It is commanded: Revelations of Holy Qur’an are recited before them; they begin to winkle their brows in displeasure and make their faces. Moreover, if someone recites continuously Holy Qur’an before them, then they foam with fury due to anger and their faces become red. It looks that they will attack those who have been reciting the Revelations. And it seems that they have been feeling strict pain internally.

Commentary

Sultaanun – (warrant), this is an origin from sa-la-ta. Sultan means “power, hold, argument, and proof”. Here it aims “proof”.

It is commanded: Existence of the universe and its wonderful management have been witnessing over the Existence of Allaah Almighty and the Belief in His Oneness. If the mankind does reflect, he will come to know that everything which exists in the world, has been putting in order and that does not cross the limit of the Established Law. Place and function, origin and end of everything is known to its Creator.

He is, Who has fixed the length of everything’s time, in which it shows its bloom and then at last it departs. For the mankind, this Law has also been determined that after departing from the worldly life, his entire worldly deeds will be examined, and he will be retaliated according to his deeds. These all matters have been describing that only Allaah Almighty is Who can be God of the mankind, Who is actual Lord and Emperor of the entire worlds.

It is unknown that by leaving such Worshiped; about Whose Existence; everything of the world has been witnessing, why the mankind adores such things; concerning which nothing of the world gives any evidence that it can be God, and bowing before which is against the dignity and magnificence of the mankind? As much the knowledge of the mankind will increase, so much he will come to know gradually that worshiping any other that Allaah Almighty is a great injustice. The person, who has been doing so, has been doing wrong. Like this, having belief in Allaah Almighty, ascribing plurality to Him in His Nature or Epithets is also a great transgression.

Remember it that your all self-fabricated gods will be useless when you will stand in need of any help. Every mankind will be presented before Allaah Almighty and nothing will be able to save them from His Wrath.

Commentary

To know Allaah Almighty by looking the Signs of His Divine Power in the world; is the actual matter for the mankind. When he has known Him then there is no other thing save it that he should worship and obey the command of his Lord. Allaah Almighty caused to understand the ways of worship and adoration to the human beings by sending His Prophets (peace be upon them) during every era. We should worship Him according to the instructions He sent. Urging objections on those commandments is proof of grave ignorance. If even then the people criticize on that way of worship and wish to adore in accordance with their own self-made manner, then it is commanded: Allaah Almighty will judge on the Day of Resurrection. He is well Aware of mankind’s deeds and desires. If human beings have known Allaah Almighty correctly then they would have to know also that He knows very well the state of the atoms of everything which is in the heavens and in the earth. And detail of everything has been recorded in a Book (A Table on which the destinies of the world since its creation are written i. e. Lauh Mahfuuz).

In addition to this, entire deeds of all human beings are written in their personal Deeds History Sheet, which will be handed over to every individual on the Day of Judgment. And according to that Conduct Sheet they will be rewarded or punished. Maintaining the personal Deeds History Sheet of every individual and retaliating according to every deed is easy for Allaah Almighty. No difficulty comes before Him in any matter.

Commentary

Mansakun – (sacred rites, certain way, place), it is from the noun of place, derived from the word nasak. Nasak means “a way, to choose a path”. Naasik is the Subject from the same which means “worshiper, adorer”.

It is commanded: Those ancient nations which passed away, for them; Allaah Almighty had prescribed a way of worship, so that the people may acquire His pleasure by choosing that Way. A Way for the Nation of Muhammad (grace, glory, blessings and peace be upon him) (Muslim Ummah) has been prescribed also, that they should worship Him like this and deserve His willingness. Therefore, you should say to these people that they should not quarrel in this matter. It is in the power of Allaah Almighty that He describes the Way of His worship as He desires. No one has any right to find faults in it. They should understand it carefully that while they have believed in Allaah Almighty then they should worship Him and be grateful to Him as He commands. No individual should make any amendment in His commandments.

Then Allaah Almighty commands to the Messenger (grace, glory, blessings and peace be upon him): These people are ignorant. You should not care their objections. However you should summon them continuously unto the obedience of their Lord. You have been going on the Right Path. After causing to understand them clearly, if even then they criticize the prayer, the poor-due, the fast, the pilgrimage and the sacrifice; and wish to amend into them by themselves, then you should say to them: Allaah Almighty is Aware of your tricks. Your cleverness will not be useful before Him.

Commentary

Taqa-‘a  – (Fall, fall down), origin of the words waqa-‘a and waquu’ is wa-qa-‘a. waqa’a means “to fall”. Waquu’ means “to be, to come out”.

It is commanded: O people! If you open your eyes and see, then you will find that Allaah Almighty is He Who bestowed unto you such powers, by which you command upon everything of the world and control them. The things of the both i.e. soil and sea have been given in your jurisdiction. It is also His graciousness that He caused to run, by His commandment, the ship upon the sea for you. And it is His kindness too that He has been holding back from falling the entire things like heaven, moon, sun and stars in openness. And those cannot damage the earth after falling down on it without His Commandment.

From this explanation, you should understand that He is Who gave you life, then He will cause you to die, and then by His Omnipotence you will be given life again. But the mankind looks all these signs, even then he does neither believe in Allaah Almighty and nor thank Him. Verily the mankind is ingrate.

Commentary

Latiifun – (Subtile, Kind, Knower of hidden things), this word is an adjective from la-ta-fa. Lutf means “favor, grace” and “going up to the depth also”.

Ganiyyun – (Absolute, A Rich Person, Independent, Fearless and Careless), the Person Who possesses everything.

Meaning of having belief in Allaah Almighty is that one should know His entire Excellences and Skills also, believe in it that He has all qualities and excellences, and He is Pure from all kinds of defects and faults. His Power is unlimited and He has deepest knowledge of everything. You should guess about His knowledge, mercy and omnipotence from it that He sends down water from the sky in the form of raining, irrigates the dry and ruined land, and makes it green and prosperous in a short time. As soon as it rains, the condition of the earth is changed immediately. Greenness begins to bloom all around. Freshness takes place of dryness. From the same; everyone can know that He is very Quick of apprehension and Aware of every matter. Everything which exists in the heavens and in the earth; is of Him only; but He is not needy of anything. By His Grace and Bounty, all required things are provided to every necessitous. And He knows useful and injurious things separately. Every beauty exists in Him completely. If you will understand His power, then you will know that making the weak people strong is not difficult for Him.

Commentary

It was described that retaliation of belief and good works is a peaceful and comfortable life in the Gardens, but retaliation of disbelief is the Doom of the Hell, and if along with it; any individual has oppressed others also, then such people will be suffering from the destruction in this world too.

After that, it is commanded: Behold this Rule of the world! The person, who has been oppressed, is permitted to take revenge equally from the oppressor according to his oppression. Certainly Allaah Almighty will help the weak; if even again the oppressor teases.

It is found from this discussion that if any disbeliever also does not oppress or tyrannize any other, he can live fairly in the world. However in the Hereafter, he will be involved in difficulties due to punishment of his disbelief. Allaah Almighty verily is Mild, Forgiving.

But a Rule of supporting the oppressed people has been fixed by Him. Universe and Time are under His Control. He Sees, Hears and only He is A True God and Lord. Save Him, people’s all self-fabricated gods are the False. He is the Highest, the Greatest. None is greater than Him.
