A mixture of scalding water for drinking

Chapter “Saaaffaat” – (Those who set the Ranks) – 37

‘A-‘uu-zu  Billaahi minash-Shay-taanir- Rajiim.

 (I seek refuge in Allaah from Satan the outcast)

Bis-Millaahir-Rah-maanir-Rahiim.
(In the name of Allaah, the Beneficent, the Merciful)

 

فَإِنَّهُمْ لَءَاكِلُونَ مِنْهَا فَمَالِـُٔونَ مِنْهَا ٱلْبُطُونَ 66

 ثُمَّ إِنَّ لَهُمْ عَلَيْهَا لَشَوْبًا مِّنْ حَمِيمٍ 67

 ثُمَّ إِنَّ مَرْجِعَهُمْ لَإِلَى ٱلْجَحِيمِ 68

 إِنَّهُمْ أَلْفَوْا۟ ءَابَآءَهُمْ ضَآلِّينَ 69

 فَهُمْ عَلَىٰٓ ءَاثَٰرِهِمْ يُهْرَعُونَ 70

66.  And lo! they verily must eat thereof, and fill (their) bellies therewith.   67.  And afterward, lo! thereupon they have a drink of boiling water.   68.  And afterward, lo! their return is surely unto Hell.   69.  They indeed found their fathers astray-   70.  So they make haste (to follow) in their footsteps.

66.  Fa-‘innahum  la-‘aakiluuna  minhaa  famaali-‘uuna  minhal-bu-tuun.   67.  Summa  ‘inna  lahum  ‘alayhaa  lashawbam-min  hamiim.   68.  Summa  ‘inna  marji-‘ahum  la-‘ilal-Jahiim.   69.  ‘Innahum  ‘alfaw  ‘aabaaa-‘ahum  zaaalliin.   70.  Fahum  ‘alaaa  ‘aasaarihim  yuhra-‘uun.

Commentary

 

Shawbun – (a drink), another thing which is mixed with one, that is to say, after taking Zaqquum they will drink boiling water which will be mixed up with that.

 

Yuhra-‘uuna – {they hastened (to follow)},

 

It is commanded: Due to being hungry, the people in the Hell will be forced to eat from the same tree (Zaqquum) and fill their bellies with it. After feeding this food, they will be brought out on a spring of boiling water for causing to drink. This boiling water will be mixed up with Zaqquum in the bellies and it will burn the bellies.

 

In short, their food and drink, everything will be a torment for their life. They will feel that at the time of eating and drinking, they have been dying. And they would have to eat and drink the same because they will find nothing except these things.

 

Their life will be worse than death, but they will never die. They will have to experience the same life. After causing to drink them (boiling) water, they will be brought back into the Hellfire. These are the people who liked to follow their astray forefathers in the world and misled astray to one another.
