Quran Chapter 31: Summary (Pt-21, Stg-5) (L-2555) درس قرآن

Extract from 31st Chapter

Chapter LUQMAAN”- (LUQMAN) – 31

‘A-‘uu-zu  Billaahi minash-Shay-taanir- Rajiim.

(I seek refuge in Allaah from Satan the outcast)

Bis-Millaahir-Rah-maanir-Rahiim.

(In the name of Allaah, the Beneficent, the Merciful)

In this Chapter, the attention has been drawn towards this matter that Commandments of Holy Qur’an are in accordance with the Wisdom, that is to say, the care has been taken in its every Word that the last result of every work should be good, whether one has to give up a little apparent personal benefit in the beginning for this purpose. Its incumbent result is that only those people can reap real advantages from its Words whose nature has been bent towards good works and who behold on the consequence. Certainly they would like to establish prayer and do good for the necessitous people. Moreover these people will not claim its remuneration immediately in this world, but they would have faith that this world is a temporary living place, and mankind’s present life is limited, so complete retribution of good works cannot be received here. Its necessary result is – belief in the Hereafter.

After that, some such matters have been narrated, consequence of which is not good, due to which; on the Day of Resurrection; one shall have to suffer from great grief, pain and afflictions. Many of the matters from them are those in which the only aim is worldly amusement and play. And by chance, these are the matters in which most of the people of the world are seen involved nowadays.

It is tried to appreciate the needless stories, novels, self-invented imaginary fables, dancing, singing, grand buildings, photography, prints and paintings, romantic poetry and all such works which are called Fine Arts. These all are such works; consequence of which will not be good on the Day of Resurrection. Moreover, these matters have been becoming origin of spreading many evils.

After that, attention is drawn towards those matters, consequence of which will be better, for example – knowing Allaah Almighty, belief in Oneness of God, hatred from the belief in a plurality of Allaah and escaping from bad habits etc.

It has been indicated after describing the story of Lugman in this Chapter that wise people of the world are agreeing on goodness of such matters which have been mentioned in holy Qur’an as good works. And they admit that such works are bad which Holy Qur’an says that those are bad.

After that, it has been described: Open your eyes and see! Portents of the Divine Power of Allaah Almighty are apparent in the entire world. By looking them; you should believe in the truth of all such matters which Holy Qur’an has described. If even then someone does not believe, he is stupid. It is only a matter of stubbornness, otherwise neither human beings know the things nor have authority over them, without which their entire workings and boastings are worthless.

Commentary

In this verse, the mankind has been warned very severely due to his ignorance. It has been described to him that in spite of being unaware of real matters, he becomes so much obstinate that he disregards all others.

It is commanded: Allaah Almighty Alone has knowledge of the Hour, and causing to rain is in His Knowledge and Power. Only He knows that what is in the womb of the mother; whether it is male or female. Nobody knows that what will he do tomorrow and where will he die. Allaah Almighty is Aware of all such matters. He gives knowledge to whom He desires. Then on which pride the human beings have big hopes and make great plans? They have forgotten and exulted due to their false knowledge. Everything will be finished if a great calamity befalls at the spot. Land will stop producing provision if the raining is stopped and the mankind will not be able to do something. He thought frequently that tomorrow he would do so and so, but such circumstances happened that he could do nothing. While you do not have power in all such matters, then why do you not obey the Commandments of Allaah Almighty, Who is Aware of everything and Able to do as He desires? He is Who commands the mankind for that which is suitable for him.
