Commentary

The children ask from elders such matters which they themselves do not understand, particularly from their father. The son of Luqman would have asked: How Allaah Almighty will know if we do any work secretly? Luqman has been causing to understand him: My dear son! Do not speculate the matters of Allaah Almighty as the matters of any mankind. The human being does not know that what is behind the veil, even he is not aware of what is being done behind him. He knows only that what is before his eyes openly. But nothing is hidden from Allaah Almighty. He is Present and Beholder everywhere. He knows even most little thing, whether that is an atom, fixed in hard stones or at highest place in the heavens or in the darkness and hidden in the depth. Allaah Almighty is Well Aware of everything’s condition and location. As and when there will be need of anything, He will produce and present from its existing place. He is Able to see and Knower of most thin things. Therefore the mankind should not remain in this deception that as the human beings are not aware of the works being done behind the veil, like this Allaah Almighty will not come to know the sin committed in concealment. Considering so is ignorance.

There is no such place in the heavens or in the earth which is hidden from Him. On the Day of Resurrection, entire hidden deeds of every individual will be produced before everyone. So every mankind should think before doing any work.

Commentary

Luqman prevented his son from ascribing plurality to Allaah Almighty, but did not make him known concerning the rights of the parents, because pointing out about own right by own tongue does not suit. Allaah Almighty informed concerning their rights also and in the folder of it; He explained that belief in a plurality of God is the worst thing.

It is commanded: You are being informed at this occasion too that We have enjoined upon the mankind care for his parents. Be grateful to Allaah Almighty along with to your parents! Your mother carried you in her womb, increasing her in weakness upon weakness. She weaned you in two years. If even then, your parents endeavor to make you associate with Allaah Almighty, then you should not obey them because there is violation of the right of Allaah Almighty in it.

You should accompany your parents in this world with appropriate kindness, but you should not follow them in belief. You should adopt the way of those who turn back to Allaah Almighty in repentance. Reality of your deeds will be opened upon you after death.
