Commentary
Such short method of acquiring pleasure and success has been described for intelligent people in the previous verses that they can never err. The Messenger (grace, glory, blessings and peace be upon him) used to recite the Commandments of Allaah Almighty before them, but he (grace, glory, blessings and peace be upon him) used to grieve due to observing not their effects on major portion of the population and carelessness of the people that what has happened with them who run away from their certain advantageous matters, and have been involved in entire injurious and mischievous habits.
In these verses, he (grace, glory, blessings and peace be upon him) is being consoled that those Commandments are quite right and correct which are being revealed unto you. You should recite them before the people constantly and present the way of acting upon them along with your Believers. The people who do neither hear you and nor observe your way of working, their hearts have become dead, ears have become deaf and eyes have become blind. If apparently they walk, hear and see then what. They do not know concerning the real spirit of life and its pleasure. They have become habituated of such works which seem good apparently, but in fact those are like a tent or other baggage sent on before destruction. There is no difference between them and the dead, the deaf and the blind, whose souls have been without sense or motion like the dead, whose ears do not hear the voice of the truth and whose eyes cannot see the right path. As you cannot make the dead hear your voice and call, like this, you cannot make them hear too. Only those people will hear you who believe that Our Revelations are true. Those are the people who embraced Islam and were called “Muslims”.
