‘A-‘uu-zu  Billaahiminash-Shay-taanir- Rajiim.

Bis-Millaahir-Rah-maanir-Rahiim.

(In the name of Allaah, the Beneficent, the Merciful)

8.  Have they not pondered upon themselves? Allah created not the heavens and the earth, and that which is between them, save with truth and for a destined end. And truly many of mankind are disbelievers in the meeting with their Lord.

9a.  Have they not travelled in the land and seen the nature of the consequence for those who were before them?

8.  ‘Awa-lam  yatafakkaruu  fiii  ‘anfusihim.  Maa  khala-qAllaahus-samaawaati  wal-‘arza  wa  maa  bayna-humaaa  ‘illaa  bil-haqqi  wa  ‘ajalim-musammaa.  Wa  ‘inna  kasiiram-minan-naasi  biliqaaa-‘i  Rabbihim  lakaafi-ruun.

9a.  ‘Awa-lam  yasiiruu  fil-arzi  fa-yanzuruu  kayfa  kaana  ‘Aaqibatul-laziina  min  qablihim.

Commentary

Previously it was commanded: Many of the people fall in love with apparent jollity of the world. They are unaware that the Hereafter is coming soon and the actual thing is welfare of that Place, which we should acquire and which cannot be acquired by being involved in worldly relishes. But it can be acquired by having belief in Allaah Almighty, following the way described by His Messenger (grace, glory, blessings and peace be upon him) and obeying  the commandments mentioned in His last Scripture (Holy Qur’an).

It has been commanded in this verse: In fact these people do neither think and nor use their sense. If they think, they will find out that the world has been created according to perfect principles and strong established orders. A term has been fixed to keep its footing. A Time will come when it will be perished; the entire human beings will be brought back to life again after death and will be standing before Allaah Almighty Who is their Lord. The error originated from here that most of the people do not believe in it that they would have to meet with their Lord. Even then they can know by hearing the circumstances of ancient people that here too; those were punished very severely who disobeyed the Commands of Allaah Almighty and that this world is not real. They can see by travelling through the earth that today their names and signs have been expiring who used to dwell here before them. During their own times they also remained involved in carelessness.

Commentary

It is commanded: Allaah Almighty is Aware of advisabilities of the world. He knows well that who should be helped and when this help will be suitable, which time is proper for overcoming of whom and who should be conquered? You should know it that He is the Exalted in Might. If someone becomes strong, becomes strong by His help. Along with it, He is the Beneficent also and is ready every time to bestow things of necessity to everyone. While He is the Beneficent, the Mighty and knows the Philosophy of everything, then what an ignorant individual does comprehend that by which advisability; He has caused to defeat one group and caused to win the other. And at any other time, He will cause to defeat the winner and will cause to win that who was defeated in the past.

Remember it: Whatsoever Allaah Almighty has said, is His Final Promise which will surely be fulfilled. He does not fail in His Promise. Whatever He says, is done certainly. It is the fact which many of the people do not know. They know and give importance only what is apparent of the worldly life. They consider that the winner is superior to that who has been defeated. It comes in their sense that the winner in the world is greater than the defeated; whereas one should keep in mind the consequence before accepting someone superior or inferior. Nothing has been kept in worldly prosperity, pomp and show, wealth and property, defeat and victory. After the life of this world, the Day of Resurrection is near to come, which the people have forgotten, whereas the excellence of that Day is the actual excellence.
