Commentary

Mankind is a slave to old customs and rites and is not ready to leave them, but it is fact also that old matters do not remain on their original condition for a long time. And often it happens that a work was required to be done because of the timely need, but later that was no longer needed. At that time, leaving it would be suitable. But notwithstanding, that perseveres. People forget its actual object and begin to take interest in that matter. Islam would also have become a custom and rite if Holy Qur’an had not been present for its protection. Even now, being careless from the Commandments mentioned in Hoy Qur’an, can change the form of Islam.

Therefore, it has been commanded in this verse: Reciting, hearing and understanding Holy Qur’an, causing to hear and to understand are compulsory. Moreover, offering prayer at its proper time according to its all conditions is incumbent, so that hope of salvation from immorality and wrongdoing stand firm due to deep connection with Holy Qur’an. Reciting Qur’an and establishing worship is best source of Allaah’s remembrance. And the remembrance of Allaah Almighty is more important, which saves the mankind from sins. The mankind should know that Allaah Almighty is Well Aware of whatever he has been doing in the world. Whosoever will remember Him; will be rewarded, and who will be careless from His remembrance; will have no abode.

Commentary

The Disbelievers used to criticize that presenting examples of Mosquito, Fly and Spider are not suitable according to Greatness and Glory of Allaah Almighty, because if the Qur’an were the Word of Allaah, then such light matters would not have been mentioned in it. Its answer has been given at various places. It has been caused to understand in this verse: The purpose of exemplifying is that reality of such thing become manifest for which the example has been given. It does not relate to Greatness and Glory of That Who coins the similitude. It has concern with that matter only which is required to be explained by any likeness. If that matter is light and contemptible itself, then its reality can be opened only by comparing with contemptible things. If your works were exemplary, then the similes would also have been nice. While your works are mean and disgraceful, then what can be said other than saying them equal to mean and contemptible things? The actual thing is “object of example and its suitableness with the real, which can be understood only by those who are intelligent”. Stupid people criticize only. They do not try to reach the bottom of the matter, but make up stories for fulfilling their aim.

Greatness and Glory of Allaah Almighty is apparent from it that He is The Creator of the skies and the earth, and He has fastened everything by a system. There are great philosophies hidden in the creation of all things and their protection. All such things are neither useless and nor toys. The Believers strengthen their belief by meditating into them that there can be no partner of Him in our little works, Who created such great things, as skies and earth etc., without having any partner or supporter.
