Bis-Millaahir-Rah-maanir-Rahiim.

(In the name of Allaah, the Beneficent, the Merciful)

23.  And those who disbelieve in the Revelations of Allah and in (their) meeting with Him, such have no hope of My Mercy. For such there is a painful Doom.

24.  But the answer of his folk was only that they said: “Kill him” or “Burn him”. Then Allah saved him from the Fire. Lo! Herein verily are Portents for folk who believe.

Commentary

Mankind falls in the love of this world so much that he forgets thinking about his death and is not ready to believe that he would have to be present before Allaah Almighty. The same condition was of the Idolaters of Makkah. They used to do according to their will, stand before the idols with folded hands and adore them. It has been described in Holy Qur’an that the same state was of the folk of Abraham (peace be upon him). He (peace be upon him) caused to understand them: The death is essential and it keeps no calendar. After that, Allaah Almighty will bring you back to life again, call you before Himself and ask you about your entire deeds. The people of folk answered: We do not believe in it. He (peace be upon him) said: Those who do not know Allaah Almighty after looking His Portents and do not believe in their presence after death before Him, Allaah Almighty commands: Say to them: Do not rely on My Mercy. Painful Doom is ready for you.

Having not any answer, the people of Abraham (peace be upon him) said: Kill this person or burn him as he has been annoying us. Therefore, they threw Abraham (peace be upon him) into the pyre of the fire.

Allaah Almighty commands: We saved him (peace be upon him) from the fire. The Believers should understand from it that at last; they will be successful and the Disbelievers will be ruined.

Commentary

The person who claims that he believes in Allaah Almighty, but he does not believe in the Day of Resurrection, and does not admit the reward and punishment of that Day, he in fact does not have belief in Allaah Almighty as it is required. It is contrary to the reality that after having belief in Allaah Almighty, one does not believe in His Prophets and Angels (peace be upon them), Scriptures sent by Him, perpetual life after death, reward and punishment of the Day of Resurrection. What was the purpose of sending the Prophets (peace be upon them)? The purpose was that they (peace be upon them) should cause to impress upon the minds of mankind correct concept concerning the Creator (Allaah Almighty), that if human beings believe in Him then they should accept His Laws also; by which it has been fixed that they will be brought back to life again after death and that life will be never ending. But ease and comfort of that eternal life depends on it that the mankind should follow All Commands of Allaah Almighty in this world, otherwise they will dwell in troubles and afflictions always in the Hereafter. And that life will be worse than death.

It is being described in these verses: All human beings will be brought back to life after death and produced before Allaah Almighty for giving an account of their worldly deeds. None will have any power but The Lord of the lords (Allaah Almighty). He will torment the wrongdoers to whom He will desire as retribution of their wicked deeds. And He will have Mercy upon the righteous in accord with their good deeds as He will desire. Every individual will have to come before Him surely. There is no space in the sky or earth for running away or hiding from Him. You all will be helpless before Him. And He is Able to find you wherever you will be. You will have no Supporter or Helper save Him.
