(I seek refuge in Allaah from Satan the outcast)

Bis-Millaahir-Rah-maanir-Rahiim.

(In the name of Allaah, the Beneficent, the Merciful)

89.  Whoso bringeth a good deed will have better than its worth; and such are safe from fear that Day.

90.  And whoso bringeth an ill-deed, such will be flung down on their faces in the Fire. Are ye rewarded aught save what ye did?

91.  (Say): I (Muhammad) am commanded only to serve the Lord of this (Holy) City which He hath hallowed, and unto Whom all things belong. And I am commanded to be of those who surrender (unto Him) –

89.  Man-  jaaa-‘a  bil-hasanati  falahuu  khayrum-minhaa.  Wa  hum-min  faza-‘iny-Yawma-‘izin  ‘aaminuun.

90.  Wa  man-  jaaa-‘a  bis-sayyi-‘ati  fakubbat  wujuuhu-hum  fin-Naar.  Hal  tujzawna  ‘illaa  maa  kuntum  ta’-maluun.

91.  ‘Innamaaa  ‘umirtu  ‘an  ‘a’-buda  Rabba  haazihil-  Baldatil-lazii  harramahaa  wa  lahuu  kullu  shay-‘inw-wa  ‘umirtu  ‘an  ‘akuuna  minal-Muslimiin.

Commentary

While it has been determined that the Day of Resurrection should be set up and the people should be given reward or punishment of their deeds, then nature of that retaliation has also been described in this verse. It is commanded: Whoever comes at Judgment with a good deed will have better than it. And good people will be in peace from any kind of confusion on that Day. But whoever comes with an evil deed – their faces will be overturned into the Fire. Such people will get that what they deserved. “As you sow so you shall reap”.

Then it is commanded: Say to the people O Muhammad (grace, glory, blessings and peace be upon him)! “I have only been commanded to worship the Lord of this City(Makkah), Who made it sacred and to Whom belong all things. Moreover, I am commanded to be of the Muslims and the obedient (those who submit to Allah)”.

Hills will not remain solid

Chapter Naml”- (The Ant) – 27

‘A-‘uu-zu  Billaahi minash-Shay-taanir- Rajiim.

(I seek refuge in Allaah from Satan the outcast)

Bis-Millaahir-Rah-maanir-Rahiim.

(In the name of Allaah, the Beneficent, the Merciful)

87.  And (remind them of) the Day when the Trumpet will be blown, and all who are in the heavens and the earth will be terrified, save him whom Allah willeth. And all come unto Him, humbled.

88.  And thou seest the hills; thou deemest them solid but they will be moving like passing of clouds; the doing of Allah Who perfecteth all things. Lo! He is Aware of what ye do.

87.  Wa  Yawma  yunfakhu  fis-Suuri  fa-fazi-‘a  man  fis-samaawaati  wa  man  fil-‘arzi  ‘illaa  man  shaaa-‘Allaah.  Wa  kullun  ‘atawhu  daa-khiriin.

88.  Wa  taral-jibaala  tahsabuhaa  jaamidatanw-wa  hiya  ta-murru  marras-sahaab.  Sun-‘Allaahil-laziii  ‘atqana  kulla  shay’.  ‘InnaHuu  Khabiirum-  bimaa  taf-‘aluun.

Commentary

Daa-khiriina – (meek, humbled), this word is plural from daakhir, which is the subject from dakhara. Dakhara means “to be lowered with humility”. Another word “Sagaarun” has also the same meanings as daakhir for saagir i.e. humble, helpless, weak etc.

‘Atqana – {(He) perfected, made complete}, it is in past tense from the word ‘itqaan, which has been derived from taq-nun. Taq-nun means “stableness, durability and strength”. ‘Itqaan means “to fix everything at proper place”.

It is commanded: What do you ask concerning the last Day? On that Day, the Horn will be blown by ‘Israafiil (the name of an Angel who will sound the last Trumpet on the Day of Resurrection). The entire people will be terrified except those; to whom Allaah Almighty will save from perplexity. They all will come to Him humbled and bowing their heads. The mountains, which you see and think rigid at one place, will be moving as passing like clouds. Allaah Almighty has created everything with great skill. It is His Contrivance that we see the mountains solid, but on that Day; we shall see them overhead passing like clouds. In short, every thing will be ruined and reproduced as it was in the beginning. The earth will be changed, upon which Allaah Almighty will gather the people and they will be set in array. Then their deeds will be reckoned. Indeed, He is Acquainted with that which you do.
