Commentary

More good works of the good people have been described in these verses. It is commanded:

  1. When Revelations of their Lord are recited before them, they listen to them carefully and meditate in their meanings. They do not become careless from it that when the Word of Allaah Almighty is caused to hear them and Holy Qur’an is produced before them; they sit before it like the statue of the stone instead of beholding and hearing the verses of Holy Qur’an; and show themselves deaf and blind. It is not the act of the righteous people that Holy Qur’an is recited before them but they ignore it and intend unto any other work.

  1. These righteous people pray from Allaah Almighty: Our Lord! Vouchsafe us comfort of our wives and of our offspring, so that by looking their habits and manners, our eyes acquire pleasure and our hearts become cheerful. And our Lord! Give us strength to become abstinent and be saved from the evil deeds. They wish that they should be excellent example for all those who ward off (evil).
