(In the name of Allaah, the Beneficent, the Merciful.)

9.  Then We fulfilled the promise unto them. So We delivered them and those whom We willed and We destroyed the prodigals.

10.  Laqad  ‘anzalNaaa  ‘ilaykum  Kitaaban-  fiihi  Zikrukum.  ‘Afalaa  ta’-qiluun.  (Section 1)

    Commentary

Zikru – (fame, good name, celebrity), some meanings of the word Zikr were described in the previous lesson. However, here it aims “celebrity, fame and advice”.

It was commanded previously that unto the mankind, only a mankind can come as a Messenger. And it is necessary that He should be from the children of Adam (peace be upon them). He should eat and drink like other human beings for keeping his body fit, walk and move also like them. And then in the process of time; due to becoming his physical strength weak; he should depart from this mortal world. Therefore, the Prophets (peace be upon them) who came in the world, all of them were mankind.

The only difference which was between the common human beings and the Prophets (peace be upon them); was as it has been commanded in the above mentioned verse that “Allaah Almighty made them His Messengers (peace be upon them) and appointed them for guidance and correction of the people. And they fulfilled their duties. When the people were destroyed due to their disobedience and rebellion, at that time; the Prophets (peace be upon them) and along with them their followers were saved from destruction.

Then it is commanded: Like them, We have sent Muhammad as Our last Messenger (grace, glory, blessings and peace be upon him) and appointed him for guidance and correction of the human beings. And We gave him a magnificent Scripture (Holy Qur’an), in which all matters of advice, celebrity and honor have been mentioned for you. Use your sense and get success in the both worlds!

Any mankind cannot become immortal

Any mankind cannot become immortal

Chapter “The Prophets” – (Suratul‘Ambiyaaa’ – 21)

 ‘A-‘uu-zu  Billaahi minash-Shay-taanir- Rajiim.
(I seek refuge in God from Satan the outcast.)

Bis-Millaahir-Rah-maanir-Rahiim.

(In the name of God, the Beneficent, the Merciful.)

7.  And We sent not (as Our Messengers) before thee other than men, whom We inspired. Ask the followers of the Reminder if ye know not?

8.  We gave them not bodies that would not eat food, nor were they immortals.

7.  Wa  maaa  ‘arsalNaa  qablaka  ‘illaa  rijaalan-Nuuhiii  ‘ilayhim  fas-‘aluuu  ‘Ahlaz-Zikri  ‘in  kuntum  laa  ta’-lamuun.

8.  Wa  maa  ja-‘alNaahum  jasadal-laa  ya’-kuluunat-ta-‘aama  wa  maa  kaanuu  khaalidiin.

    Commentary

‘Ahlaz-Zikri – (the followers of the Reminder); Zikr means “remembering recital of the praise and names of Allaah, recollections, understanding, verse, poetry and knowledge” etc. Here it aims “Knowledge, Science”. ‘Ahlaz-Zikri are “the People of the Scripture” who were aware of the Prophets (peace be upon them).

It was described earlier that the Disbelievers used to try to keep the other people away from the Messenger Muhammad (grace, glory, blessings and peace be upon him) by saying that “he is a Man as we are, and a man cannot be a Messenger of Allaah. He eats; drinks and walks just like a common person. If Allaah had to send anyone by appointing His Messenger, He could send any Angel; who would have been free from all such necessities.

In this verse, there is reply of their saying so, that, O Messenger (grace, glory, blessings and peace be upon him): Say to them! We have sent many Messengers (peace be upon them) before You, who all were men (from the mankind). The Jews and the Christians accept and know it well, because they have recited the circumstances of many Prophets (peace be upon them) in Torah and Gospel, and they know it that Their (peace be upon them) bodies were as the bodies of entire mankind are, for keeping of which formed; food and water are essential, and who can live in the world; only for a fixed time. Perpetual life cannot be in the presence of such bodies. Ask from the people who know about former Scriptures and their Bringer Messengers (peace be upon them). They all were mankind and used to eat, drink and walk. They performed their duties and then passed away. Muhammad (grace, glory, blessings and peace be upon him) is the last Messenger of the same lineage. It would be a surprising thing if He (grace, glory, blessings and peace be upon him) is not accepted as a Messenger.
