Chapter TAA-HAASurah – 20)

‘A-‘uu-zu  Billaahi minash-Shay-taanir- Rajiim.
(I seek refuge in Allaah from Satan the outcast)

Bis-Millaahir-Rah-maanir-Rahiim.

(In the name of Allaah, the Beneficent, the Merciful)

130.  Therefore (O Muhammad), bear with what they say, and celebrate the Praise of thy Lord ere the rising of the sun and ere the going down thereof. And glorify Him some hours of the night and at the two ends of the day, that thou mayst be well pleased. 130.

Commentary

‘Aanaaa-‘un – (times), this word is plural of ‘anaya, which means “time, moment, hour etc”.

‘Atraafun- nahaari – the aim from this word is “the two ends of the day”, because at those times, last end of the first part of the day, which is called “gadaatun {A.M. i.e. ante-meridium (before noon)}, and first end of the last part of the day, which is called “’ashiy-yun” {P.M. i.e. post-meridium (afternoon)}, meet with each other. After the time when sun begins to decline, the time of Zuhr Prayer begins.

It was found from the previous verse that “the judgment of the deeds is inevitable”. Good or bad result has been clung with every work which appears immediately after committing the work. But in the world, coming of full result out immediately has been stopped, and a Day has been fixed for this purpose (the Day of Resurrection). On that Day, full reward or punishment of every deed will be given.

After that, it is commanded: The people who do not accept this Rule, they will say such words which will be grievous for you. Let them say! That will happen which We desire. Bear with what they say and celebrate the Praise of your Lord at fixed times, that is to say; (a) Fajr Prayer before rising of the sun, (b) Zuhr Prayer after declining of the sun, (c) ‘Asr Prayer before setting of the sun, (d) Magrib Prayer after setting of the sun and (e) ‘Ishaa’ Prayer at night hours! And you should try to produce excellences into yourself. Result of passing the worldly life in like manner will be pleasure for always.

The judgment is inevitable

Chapter TAA-HAASurah – 20)

Bis-Millaahir-Rah-maanir-Rahiim.

(In the name of Allaah, the Beneficent, the Merciful)

128b.  Lo! Therein verily are Signs for men of thought.

129.  And but for a decree that had already gone forth from thy Lord, and a term already fixed, the judgment would have been inevitable (in this world).

(Section 7)

129.  Wa  law-laa  Kalimatun-  sabaqat  mir-Rabbika  lakaana  lizaamanw-wa  ‘ajalum-musam-maa.

Commentary

Lizaaman – (punishment, judgment), it means “to cling to anything”. Origin of this world is “la-za-ma”, from which the words “lazuum, mulzim, mulaazimat etc. have been derived; it means “to cling to anything and to fix”. Here it aims “appearance of the result of sin at the spot”.

To the mankind, the sense has been bestowed, understanding and power of thought has been given. It demands that he should enquire into the mutual connection between the circumstances of the world with one another. Actual object from it is that he should find the deeds which may be cause of his destruction. Circumstances of ancient people are described again and again in Holy Qur’an for the purpose that relationship of ruin/destruction may be manifested with human actions.

It is commanded in this verse: Listen to these circumstances and find by your sense that “which are the deeds due to which ancient people were ruined and destroyed”, and try yourselves to refrain from such works. It is the work; which the mankind should take from his sense.

Then it is commanded: Bad result of evil deeds is unavoidable and that should be issued immediately after committing the sin. Bad work and its bad result are inseparable. But Allaah Almighty has decided that in the world; respite will be given and for full punishment; the Day of Resurrection has been appointed. If these both matters would not have been determined then its bad result would have been inevitable in this world.
