Promises of Iblis
Surah Baniii ‘Israaa-‘iil (The Children of Israel) – 17
‘A-‘uu-zu Billaahi minash-Shay-taanir- Rajiim.
(I seek refuge in God from Satan the outcast)
(In the name of God, the Beneficent, the Merciful)
|63. He said: Go, and whosoever of them followeth thee – lo! Hell will be your reward, ample reward.
64. And beguile any of them whom thou canst with thy voice, and attack them with your horsemen and your forces on foot, and be a partner in their wealth and children, and promise them. And Satan promiseth them only to deceive.
|63. Qaalaz-hab faman tabi’aka minhum fa-‘inna Jahannama jazaaa-‘ukum jazaaa-‘am-maw-fuuraa.
64. Wastafziz manistata’-ta min-hum- bi-sawtika wa ‘ajlib ‘alayhim- bi-khaylika wa rajilika wa shaarik-hum fil-‘amwaali wal-‘awlaadi wa ‘idhum. Wa maa ya-‘iduhumush-Shaytaanu ‘illaa guruuraa.
‘Astafziz– (Beguile!), it is a word of command from ‘Astafzaaz, which means “to beguile, to shake from a place, to drive off, to kidnap. Origin of this word is fazaz, which means “lightness vanity”.
Satan asked from Allah Almighty for respite so that he may take revenge of this humiliation and disgrace from the children of Adam (peace be upon him) till the Day of Judgment, which he got because of Him (peace be upon him).
It was commanded: OK! You are given grace. Go and do whatsoever you can. We have prepared the Hell for you and those who will obey you. That is the complete punishment of your arrogance. Collect all of those who run towards you at your voice, attack them with your horsemen and your forces on foot, and beguile them that “they should acquire wealth and children unlawfully, so that there should be partnership of yours into them also, and deceive them that “lawful and forbidden” is nothing, so they should just enjoy as they wish. They should collect the wealth as they want and fulfill their worldly desires as they can, so that the luxuries of life may be obtained fully. Sin, punishment, virtue and reward are nothing”. Satan says: I promise you that I am your protecting friend. At the time of celebrating merriments in the world, no trouble can touch you. But this promise of Satan is just deceiving, seducing and a lie.
