115.  Was-bir-  fa-‘innAllaaha  laa  yuzii-‘u  ‘ajral-Muhsi-niin.

Commentary

Zulafa – (watches/parts of night), this word is plural of zulfatun. Zulfatun is that part of the night which is adjoining to that part of the day.

Allah Almighty taught His Messenger (grace, glory, blessings and peace be upon him) about the Rules pf Practice regarding the life of the Muslims and commanded that at first, you should act upon these verses, so that other Muslims do the same in your imitation naturally. You should establish prayer (worship) at both ends of the day i.e. beginning and ending of the day (morning and evening) at fixed times, and determine some watches of night also for offering the prayer.

In accordance with this commandment, Messenger of God Almighty (grace, glory, blessings and peace be upon him) established two prayers in the first part of the day {(Fajr – (the dawn of the day) and Zuhr – midday (the time immediately after the declining of the sun)}, one prayer in the last part of the day {‘Asr (afternoon prayer)}, and two prayers in the first part of the night {Magrib – (evening prayer) and ‘Ishaa’ – (the prayer of the first watch of the night)}.

Accordingly, prayer of these five times is compulsory for the Muslims to be offered. The person who may not offer any prayer of these times due to any excuse, he should offer the omitted appointed prayer afterwards. And the individual who could not attend congregational prayer due to any reason, he should offer it alone separately.

“The Prayer” is such an act which is performed purely; only for God, Allah Almighty. Without any doubt, it is a best work. Due to any error or omission, influence of any person or seducing by anyone else, some times a person talks unreasonably. This prayer is expiation for such little sins, because it is a prescribed rule that bad works are reduced to nothing by performing good works. It should be remembered that there should not be any shortness in offering the prayer.

Then, it is commanded that these prayers should be established being bound, regularly and steadily. It aims “Patience”. Allah Almighty does not destroy reward of any individual’s good work.

Freedom from infidelity and polytheism

Surah Ra-‘d (The Thunder) – 13

‘A-‘uu-zu  Billaahi minash-Shay-taanir- Rajiim.
(I seek refuge in God from Satan the outcast.)

Bis-Millaahir-Rah-maanir-Rahiim.

(In the name of God, the Beneficent, the Merciful.)

31a.  Had it been possible for a Lecture (Qur’aan) to cause the mountains to move or the earth to be torn asunder, or the dead to speak, (this Qur’aan would have done so). Nay, but Allah’s is the whole Command. 31a.  Wa  law  ‘anna  Qur-‘aanan  suyyi-rat  bihil-jibaalu  ‘aw-  qutti-‘at  bihil-‘arzu  ‘aw  kullima  bihil-maw-taa.  Bal-Lillaahil-‘Amru  jamii-‘aa.

Commentary

Suyyi-rat – (caused to move), it is past tense from the word tasii-yiir, origin of which is sayara. Sayara means “to move”. Tasii-yiir means “to cause to move”.

Qutti-‘at – (to pull or burst asunder), it is a past tense also from the word taqtii’. Origin of which is qata-‘a. Qata-‘a means “to break off, to cut short”. Taqtii’ means “to tear asunder”.

This verse has been started with the conditional word “Law”, but with the condition, its retaliation has not been mentioned, which can be understood naturally, that is to say; “to be without any benefit”.

Holy Qur’aan desires to explain before them: Know God Almighty with His Auspicious Names and Attributes, so that you may get freedom from infidelity and polytheism. Holy Qur’aan produces correct perception of Allah Almighty before the mankind. Without setting up correct concept about the Creator, temperateness and resemblance cannot be born in the life of human being. Those people who do not correct the perception of Allah Almighty after hearing the verses of Holy Qur’aan, they destroy their time.

It has been explained the same in this verse that there is no need of appearance of any extraordinary or contrary to custom matter for knowing Allah Almighty, for example; saying by the people of Makkah: We shall believe in the Omnipotence of Allah and Messenger-hood of His Apostle when Muhammad (grace, glory, blessings and peace be upon him) will cause to move the mountain, flow the springs by tearing the earth asunder, produce a garden ready for fruit, bring the dead to life that they begin to speak.
