Commentary
Mu-‘aqqi-baatun – (those who come constantly another after the one), this word is a plural of the plural of mu-‘aqqibun. Plural of mu-‘aqqibun is mu-‘aqqibatun and the plural of mu-‘aqqibatun is mu-‘aqqibaatun. The word mu-‘aqqibun has been made from ta’-qiibun, origin of which is ‘aqaba. ‘Aqaba means “behind”. Ta’-qiib means “coming of another after the one. Here it aims “Angels (peace be upon them), who have been appointed by Allah Almighty for protection of the mankind”.
Development of the nations depends on apparent causes. Prosperity, peace, ease, wealth, strength etc. everything is provided, but natural means help them continuously and constantly, that is to say; Angels (peace be upon them) etc. As long the maximum people of any nation keep their character correct, they are not degraded. But if maximum people begin to think ill, then degradation of that nation begins.
One should understand after beholding the signs of nation’s degradation that Her individuals have been entangled in absurd thoughts and destructive habits. If She arranged precautionary measures for it with collective strength, then She would stand. But if She ignored from preventive measures, then disasters and ruins would besiege them from all around and then their effort would be in vain.
Khuda ne aaj tak os qawm ki haalat nahin badlii
Na ho jis ko khiyal khud apni haalat ke badle ka
(God has not changed condition of such nation
which does not intend to change her condition)
