7.  Lo! Those who expect not the meeting with Us and are pleased with the life of the world and are contented therein, and those who are neglectful of Our Revelations.

8.  ‘Ulaaa-‘ika  ma’-waa-humun-Naaru  bimaa  kaanuu  yaksi-buun.

Lesson

This verse is sufficient to open the eyes of a mankind. It is such a common commandment; in which; there is no favor or partiality for any individual. In the previous verse, it was described very clearly that everything which exists in the world, has been explaining that it is under the control of an Arrangement, and its Creator and fixing its adjustment under that Arrangement; is Allah Almighty.

In this verse, mention is about those people, who consider that the human being is not superior to an animal. It is commanded that those people who accept it not that the humankind is a responsible life, and they confute the examining of their good and evil deeds before Allah Almighty, according to their point of view “only this world is everything”. They have been satisfied from worldly things and circumstances. And they do not consider that the world is a portent of the existence of the Creator and the Lord.

It appears that such people will not try to understand the Rules and the Regulations of Allah Almighty, and foundation of their deeds and acts will not be on it that their accounts will be checked on a Day (of Judgment); after death. Those people, who have been entangled in the world; will suffer from very severe distress and pain.

Such people will see with their open eyes that Rule of conduct of the abstemious people was hundred percent correct in the world. Therefore, into them, a fire of grief and affliction will break out, which will burn and destroy all their inward and outward.

Influence of a Secret Power (God)

Surah YUUNUS – 10 (JONAH)

BisMillaahir-Rahmaanir-Rahiim

In the name of God, the Beneficent, the Merciful

6.  Lo! In the difference of day and night and all that Allah hath created in the heavens and the earth are portents for folk who ward off (evil) 6.  ‘Inna  fikh-tilaafil-layli  wan-nahaari  wa  maa  khala-qAllaahu  fis-samaa-waati  wal-‘arzi  la-‘Aayaatil-li-  qaw-miny-yatta-quun.

Lesson

Sayers can say whatever they wish and doers can do whatever they want, Holy Qur’aan (which separates the Truth from the falsehood), will continue to repeat always its commandments with full firmness and satisfaction, and it will never come under influence of anyone’s enmity, whether someone accepts it or otherwise. It shall say the Truth always.

As the system of the world has been running from the beginning in accord with a proper manner, like this, duty of Holy Qur’aan is to cause to understand too and it shall continue to give advice to all human beings, because it is the Dignity of the Holy Qur’aan.

Every individual observes that as soon as the sun rises, it is morning of the day, and when sun sets, it is evening of the night. The sky and its interesting scene, the sun, the moon, the stars, the earth and its changing circumstances, pass every moment in front of many hundred thousand people. None of them thinks that “what is this and why is it so?”, but Holy Qur’aan uses the same daily observation for causing to know its Commandments and illustrating for this purpose.

Holy Qur’aan explains that such portents are hidden in everything of the world and its revolutionary changes, by observing which, fortunate people reach very great consequence. Who are these people? About them, sometimes it is said “they are wise, sensible and intelligent people, and at some places they have been given title of “learned people”.

In this verse, such people have been named as “the pious, sober and abstemious people who ward off evil”. It is commanded that those people who fear God Almighty, act carefully and cautiously in the world, and do not continue leaping blindly like animals, but their hearts fear that behind the apparent universe, in the unseen screen, certainly something is hidden.

These kinds of people observe influence of A Secret Power in the outward condition of everything and in the changing of day to night and night to day. And they consider that the Owner of the universe is Allah Almighty, and they fear from His wrath and rage.

Meditation in the creatures of Allah

Surah YUUNUS – 10 (JONAH)

BisMillaahir-Rahmaanir-Rahiim

In the name of God, the Beneficent, the Merciful

5.  He it is Who appointed the sun a splendor and the moon a light, and measured for her stages, that ye might know the number of the years, and the reckoning. Allah created not (all) that save in Truth. He detaileth the Revelations for people who have knowledge. 5.  Hu-wallazii  ja-‘alash-sham-sa  zi-yaaa-‘anw-wal-qamara  nuuranw-wa  qadda-rahuu  manaazila  lita’-lamuu  ‘ada-das-siniina  wal-hisaab.  Maa  khala-qAllaahu  zaalika  ‘illaa  bil-Haqq.  Yufassi-lul-‘Aayaati  li-qaw-miny-ya’-lamuun.

Lesson

The word Zi-yaaa-‘an is also called Zuuu’ as well as Nuur too, both means “the light”. But zi-yaa and zuuu’ means sharp-glittering light which spreads at very long distance, whereas the word Nuur is used for absolute and dim light.

Qadda-rahuu – (measured for her), it is past tense from the word taq-diir, which has been derived from qadara. Qadara means “to draw a sketch”. Taqdiir means “to determine and fix everything according to that sketch”. Huu in the above mentioned word hints unto the moon. The moon completes its circle within twenty nine to thirty days. And with its circulation around the earth, the religious months and years are established for the worship.

It is commanded: Why do you doubt in having belief in Allah Almighty? Behold the sun and the moon. One gives sharp-glittering light (a splendor) whereas the other provides (dim) light. He has fixed a way for circulation of the moon in a circle, from which reckoning of months and years can be estimated easily, and from the same; by reckoning; Divine worships are offered; like a fast, pilgrimage(Hajj) and other devotions at their prescribed times. These things have not been created trifling and only for fun and play. Allah Almighty has created them in accordance with a fixed order with His Knowledge and described about them in detail, from which, only those people can reap advantage; who have knowledge.

Surah YUUNUS – 10 (JONAH)

BisMillaahir-Rahmaanir-Rahiim

In the name of God, the Beneficent, the Merciful

4.  Unto Him is the return of all of you. It is a promise of Allah in truth. Lo! He produceth creation for the first time, then He shall reproduce it, that He may reward those who believe and do good works with equity. And as for those who disbelieve, theirs will be a boiling drink and painful doom because they disbelieved. 4.  ‘Ilay-hi  marji-‘ukum  jamii-‘aa.  Wa’-dAllaahi  haqqaa.  ‘Innahuu  Yabda-‘ul-khalqa  summa  Yu-‘iiduhuu  li-Yajzi-yallaziina  ‘aamanuu  wa  ‘ami-lus-saalihaati  bil-qist.  Wallaziina  kafaruu  lahum  sharaabum-min  hamii-minw-wa  ‘azaabun  ‘aliimum-bimaa  kaanuu  yak-furuun.

Lesson

Foundation of everyone’s efforts stays at such point that he should take those things in his possession; from the entire things of the world, which fulfill his desires or help in fulfilling, and as it may be possible, debar others from them. He wishes that there should be no other person who may prevent him from fulfilling his will.

Some people say that it is called freedom, but in fact, this independence which is like animals, does not suit to the mankind. Holy Qur’aan limits the freedom of the human being and makes him bound of the Divine Law.

It has been described in this verse that your work will be correct at the time when you will consider yourselves a responsible creature, and will believe in it that you would have to be present before the Creator, Allah Almighty for liability. He is, Who created you for the first time and then, He shall reproduce you after death. At that time, He will reward those people with equity who believed in Him and obeyed His Commandments.

But those people who did not believe in Allah Almighty, retaliation for them will be that vexatious things will be given to them in the Hereafter, for example, boiling water for drinking, and painful, full of grief things will surround them from all around.

Lesson

Which thing we see in the world, gives evidence that Allah Almighty is existing. This sky and the earth, and reciprocal connection of the both, which has been standing with a strong system, this all has not happened at its own. For instance, an individual goes for a walk to a prosperous country and beholds that everything has been managed properly. By observing these entire matters, he will understand that management of this country is in the hands of any more powerful organizing king.

It is commanded: Allah (Almighty) is your Lord Who produces all necessary things for you. Look at the sky and the earth. These have been created by Him. He is Possessor of the entire Worlds. There is a Place, which is His (Splendid) Throne. As soon as He commands, necessary items for existence of everything are collected immediately. Then it is brought to perfection in the process of time. Accordingly, the sky and the earth were completed in six Days. He is Creator of all these things. And He puts to keep up them in order. His all Courtiers obey His all Commandments. Without His permission, no one can be an intercessor of any other. You should know Allah Almighty with these entire matters, form your opinion about Power and Dignity of Allah Almighty and prostrate before Him. There is dire need of thinking for it, then why do you not think?

Prophet as a Guide

Surah YUUNUS – 10 (JONAH)

BisMillaahir-Rahmaanir-Rahiim

In the name of God, the Beneficent, the Merciful

Lesson

This Chapter is one of those, first letters of which are “Muqatt’at”. Only Allah Almighty knows the meanings of such Letters or whom He has told, they know. It is commanded that these verses, which you have been reciting and listening, are revelations of a Book, in which, there is no scope of doubt and none is capable to change them. Whatsoever is mentioned in it; that is Final, Perfect and Complete in all respect. Allah Almighty has given this Book to His Last Messenger, Muhammad (grace, blessings and peace be on Him), Whom He has sent for the Guidance of all human beings.

It is commanded: Allah Almighty appointed a Man among you, Whom He bestowed more virtues and prominent superiorities for the work of His Prophet-hood, so that He should frighten the entire people of the world and warn them that the mankind has not been born for passing his life in the world as untrustworthy like animals. An account of his entire deeds, which he performed or committed in this world, whether those are good or bad, will be taken from him after death.

Those people who did not believe in Allah Almighty and did not abide by the Laws, prescribed by Him, they will be punished properly and they will suffer from big torment due to their disobedience. But you should bring the good tidings unto those people who believed and abode by the Divine Laws, that they will be bestowed with great rewards against their believing and abiding by the Rules and Regulations prescribed by God Almighty, and their Lord will grant them very higher dignities due to running on His Path.

Then God Almighty commands: It is not surprising if Allah Almighty appoints a Mankind from others as His Messenger and sends Him unto the people after causing to know Him by inspiring, so that the Straight Path should be obvious for the human beings. It is, however a surprising thing if the people do not believe in One God, the Most High; after hearing the Sayings of the Messenger of Allah Almighty (peace be upon Him), and by observing unusual influence in the Sayings of the Messenger (grace, blessings and peace be on Him) and Revelations of Holy Qur’aan, they begin to say that the Messenger is a manifest wizard, and they may not understand that affect of charm is never lasting. It is only a deception for some time, though whoever is influenced by Holy Qur’aan, can never be changed.

The subject of this verse; in which the Infidels should meditate, is that; capability of every individual is quite different from others. If someone is wise, then the other may be dull. If someone is hardworking; then the other may be lazy and useless. Someone has so sharp mind that he reaches the bottom of the matter immediately, whereas some are those who remain thinking only. According to this rule, whoever has been created with perfect internal and external powers, and if Allah Almighty appoints him His Messenger, inspires him His Word and makes him A Guide for other people, then what is surprising in it?

1.  Alif. Lam. Ra. These are Verses of the Wise Scripture.

2.  It is a wonder for mankind that We have inspired a man among them, saying: Warn mankind and bring unto those who believe the good tidings that they have a sure footing with their Lord? The disbelievers say: Lo! This is a manifest wizard.

1.  ’Alif.  Laaam  Raa.  Tilka  ‘Aayaatul-Kitaabil-Hakiim.

2.  ‘A-kaana  linnaasi  ‘ajaban  ‘an  ‘aw-haynaaa  ‘ilaa  rajulim-minhum  ‘an  ‘anzi-rinnaasa  wa  basshshiril-laziina  ‘aamanuuu  ‘anna  lahum  qadama  Sid-qin  ‘inda  Rabbi-him.  Qaalal-Kaafi-ruuna  ‘inna  haazaa  lasaa-hirum-mubiin.

Lesson

‘Al-Hakiim – (The Wise, matured), it is a tense of adjective, origin of which is ha-ka-ma. Famous words from this origin are hakam, hikmat and hakim etc. and these are in use commonly. The meanings of “maturity, confirmation and strength” exist into all these words, which are; actual meanings of its origin. Therefore, meanings of Hakiim are “such strong, matured and wise opinion or thing, in which; there is no fear of changing due to internal weakness, until any stronger, more matured and wiser thing or opinion appears against it and the change takes place in it.

Qadama  Sid-qin – (qadama means – a step), because by stepping out; one has to move forth, so, other meaning of it is “promotion, success and higher rank”, because for this purpose, going ahead is compulsory. Sidq means “the truth”, but it is used for “solid, strong and friendship” also.

Chptr 10 – Intro (Pt-11, Stg-3) (L – 1235) درس قرآن

Jonah is a name of a selected Servant of God

Surah YUUNUS – 10 (JONAH)

BisMillaahir-Rahmaanir-Rahiim

In the name of God, the Beneficent, the Merciful

Lesson

Jonah (peace be upon Him) is a name of a selected servant of God Almighty. The name of this Chapter is Surah Yuunus because in it, there is mention of Prophet Jonah (peace be upon Him) and his nation. It is the particularity of this nation that its people were frightened; as soon as they saw the symptoms of the wrath of God Almighty, believed in Him immediately and all of them supplicated by shedding tears for forgiveness, and prayed for getting out God’s wrath of the way. So the wrath was withdrawn from them. Any other nation did not do like this prior to them.

This Chapter was revealed in Makkah probably four years before Hijrah (the flight of the Messenger – grace, blessings and peace be on Him; from Makkah to Madinah on the 16th July, 622 AD). So, like other Chapters; revealed in Makkah, in it also, the human beings have been commanded that they should know the Creator and Organizer of all those things; which exist in this universe, by observing the functions of every visible thing that there is only One (God, The Most High), Who created this entire universe and only He is Who looks after it. He is Who provides all necessary things which are necessary for the life of every living being. The mankind himself has also been created by Him. He granted more wisdom to the human being so that he may comprehend thoroughly to his Creator and Lord after studying the universe and nature, and then spend his entire virtues and powers to please Him.

For guidance of the human beings, Allah Almighty has sent some people by appointing them His Messengers (peace be on them) from time to time, so that they awake the people from the dream of carelessness and instruct them: You have to be produced before your Lord and Master after death and He will take an account of your entire deeds.

In the same Chapter, next to it, their attention has been drawn by explaining the condition and behavior of the folks of Noah, Moses, Aaron (Brother of Moses) and Jonah with the Prophets (peace be upon them) that, you would have to learn also from the previous nations.

By means of extreme obvious and effective commandments, this Surah describes the way of living as an obedient of Divine Law and removing the insurrection of human beings. When you will meditate into them, you will understand the way of passing over the life in this world, and on the other hand, it becomes clear on him that he is responsible of establishing a system, peace and safety in this world. Then it shows that without obedience of Allah Almighty, any human being can neither get freedom from the calamities and nor can fulfill his responsibilities.

In misfortune, none is your companion -2

Lesson # 1169 from Holy Qur-’aan

In misfortune, none is your companion -2

Surah ‘TAWBAH or BARAAA-‘AH (REPENTANCE) – Chapter – 9)

Stage – 2, Verse –129 of 129, Section – 16 of 16 (Part – 11)

BisMillaahir-Rahmaanir-Rahiim

In the name of God, the Beneficent, the Merciful

Lesson

After that, Messenger of Allah Almighty (grace, blessings and peace be on Him) directed the people: None will talk with these three persons {Ka’b bin Malik, Maraarah bin ‘Ar-Rabii’ and Hilal bin Umayyah (May Allah be pleased with them)}. My world was darkened. Everything had become stranger from me. We passed over fifty days in such condition. My other two companions set out to their homes for mourning, but I was stronger than all others physically and younger, used to offer congregational prayers and wander in bazaars. After prayer, I used to salute the Messenger (grace, blessings and peace be on Him), but when I used to behold Him (grace, blessings and peace be on Him), He used to turn His face without talking.

After observing these circumstances, I climbed at the wall of Abu Qataadah’s house (May Allah be pleased with them), who was my cousin (paternal) and had love with me. I saluted him. By God, he did not reply. I came down being disappointed. Then I was passing through the bazaar and heard – one villager of Syria, who had come to sell a mercantile grain, was in search of me. The people indicated him towards me. He came unto me and gave a letter, sent by the king of Ghassaan. It was written in that letter: I have heard that your Leader (grace, blessings and peace be on Him) has rejected you and now you are in adverse condition. Come unto us, we shall entertain you properly. After reading the letter, I thought: this another misfortune has reached. And I cast that letter into the oven.

After forty days, a courier of God’s Messenger (grace, blessings and peace be on Him) came and said: It is commanded that you should live alone (separate from tour wife). This commandment was also for my other two companions. Hilal bin Ummayyah sent his request: I am an old man and needy of an attendant.

Messenger of Allah Almighty (grace, blessings and peace be on Him) permitted him in these words: Your wife can serve you, but you should remain away from her. The people said to me: You should do the same also. I said: No, I am adult. When complete fifty days were over, Allah Almighty sent His Revelation and my error was forgiven. The people ran unto me with glad-tidings and I attended the Court of Messenger (grace, blessings and peace be on Him). His Face had been blooming with happiness, Commanded: The day of Today, with effect from you have born, is the best day. Allah Almighty has forgiven you. I requested: I wish to sacrifice my entire wealth for the welfare of needy people, due to this happiness. Messenger (grace, blessings and peace be on Him) commanded: No. You should keep some wealth for your own living also. Then I requested: O Messenger of Allah Almighty (grace, blessings and peace be on Him)! God has forgiven me due to the reason that I spoke the truth. I promise that until death, I shall never tell a lie. Therefore, till today, I have never told a lie intentionally.

I consider that my this deed is the best that I stated my condition truly as it was, before the Messenger of Allah Almighty (grace, blessings and peace be on Him), and did not join those people, in whose reproof, verses were revealed because of producing their false excuses.

FROM THIS INCIDENT we should learn that we should abstain from deceiving anyone and telling a lie, and whatsoever we do, should do fearing Allah Almighty, because He is Aware of Open and Hidden. And in this connection, we should also be saved from those tokens; which have been described about the Hypocrites, because none can deceive Allah Almighty, and matter of a Muslim is, first of all, in God’s Hand.

Punishment for deserters of war -1

Surah ‘TAWBAH or BARAAA-‘AH (REPENTANCE) – Chapter – 9)

Stage – 2, Verse –129 of 129, Section – 16 of 16 (Part – 11)

BisMillaahir-Rahmaanir-Rahiim

In the name of God, the Beneficent, the Merciful

Lesson

A Companion (May Allah be pleased with him) of the Messenger (grace, blessings and peace of Allah be on Him) says: I participated in every Battle (Ghazwah) along with the Prophet of Allah Almighty save the Battle of Tabuuk. In those days, I was most powerful and prosperous. I had two camels first time in life during that period, which were very strong and able to travel duly loaded fully.

Before this Battle, Messenger of Allah Almighty did never proclaim for any Battle; in which He had to participate, but for the Battle of Tabuuk, He announced and commanded to be prepared for the Battle of Tabuuk. At that time, the weather was very hot, journey was very long, the Army had to cross very vast deserts; and the war was against a most powerful enemy. Therefore, every individual was informed very clearly that they had to move for war against so and so enemy and make full preparation.

At that time, crops of fruit were ready, the people desired to take rest under shadowy trees and enjoy with the fruit. I had also inclined towards the same. I used to intend for preparation in the morning daily, but in the evening, when I used to see that nothing is done, then I used to think: Ok! I would move up in the tomorrow morning certainly.

It was in my heart: I have every that thing which I need, so there is no need to be prepared. When I shall wish; I shall move up immediately. In such contrivances, the Army went forth and had gone very far. I wanted to proceed and join them, but in it also; I delayed. And at last, I had remained behind. Then I observed that around me, there were only Hypocrites and excusable people, even that the Messenger along with the Army arrived at Tabuuk. Even afterwards too, one Ansaari (permanent resident of Madinah), named Abu Khasiimah (May Allah be pleased with him) mustered courage and joined Them. But I could not go forth.

When they returned, I thought: I can be saved from the anger of the Messenger (grace, blessings and peace be on Him) by making any false excuse. Then I determined: I shall speak the truth only without any hesitation, whether I am punished or otherwise. Some more than eighty persons were present in the Court of the Messenger and wanted to please Him by telling false excuses. Messenger (grace, blessings and peace on Him) accepted their excuses and condition of their heart was abandoned on Allah Almighty. When I reached my turn, I spoke the truth: I have no excuse, but delayed due to laziness only. Messenger (grace, blessings and peace be on Him) said: You have spoken the truth, now go away and wait for the decision of Allah Almighty. I returned and arrived at home.

The people said to me: Go back unto the Messenger (grace, blessings and peace on Him) and produce any false excuse. He (grace, blessings and peace on Him) is gentle and merciful, will forgive you. I asked: Has any other done like me? The people replied: Yes! There are two more persons like you, who spoke the truth. They are Maraarah bin ‘Ar-Rabii’ and Hilal bin Umayyah.
