How can he be a God, who is base and powerless?

Lesson # 742 From the Noble Quran

How can he be a God, who is base and powerless?

Surah ‘Al-‘An-‘aam (Cattle) – Chapter – 6)–Stage – 2

Verses –81 of 165, Section – 9 of 20 (Part – 7)

BisMIllaahir-Rahmaanir-Rahiim

In the name of Allaah, the Beneficent, the Merciful

81.  How should I fear that which ye set up beside Him, when ye fear not to set up beside Allaah that for which He hath revealed unto you no warrant? Which of the two factions hath more right to safety? (Answer me that) if ye have knowledge. 81.  Wa  kayfa  ‘akhaafu  maaa  ‘ash-raktum  wa  laa  takhaa-fuuna  ‘anna-kum  ‘ash-raktum-  BIllaahi  maa  lam  yunazzil  bihii  ‘alay-kum  sultaanaa. Lesson

Sultaanaa – (warrant), sultaan means overcoming power and authority. He is brave and powerful, who has strong proof or sway to say something. Therefore, it is translated as warrant or authority. It also means permission, jurisdiction and ruling, because all of them provide bravery and power.

In the previous verse, the situation was discussed in which Abraham (peace be upon Him) replied the idolaters (who used to frighten Him from the punishment of their gods) the fear should be only from that, which has some power. Your gods are lifeless, while they don’t have even life, then what is the mention of power?

Prophet Muhammad (grace, glory, blessings and peace be upon Him) has been commanded in this verse that He should say the idolaters: How should I fear from your base and helpless gods, who don’t have even a little bit of power, and you know it well that neither can they give you anything, nor snatch. Then how the sense can permit to fear from lifeless and powerless things willing or unwilling?

Now look at yourselves: You do not fear Allah Almighty, whereas He has full Power, Strength and Authority to punish you, and only He is your Owner and Lord, and you are unable to go out from His limits for escaping yourselves. He is your Ruler. You are never permitted by Him to beg from others beside Him (Allah Almighty), and consider useless things equal to Him, and begin to think falsely that He needs helpers, and that He can do Alone nothing.

You try to frighten Me (grace, glory, blessings and peace be upon Him) from those lifeless and powerless things, whom you have ascribed partners of Allaah Almighty, whereas I cause to fear you from the Omnipotent and Powerful God. Think now! From whom you say Me to be afraid, are quite powerless, and about Whom I say you to be frightened, is the Most Powerful.

In such condition, who from both of us will get satisfaction of the heart and rest of thought? You claim that you have knowledge and are wise people. If you have knowledge then tell Me (grace, glory, blessings and peace be upon Him): Whether those people will dwell with satisfaction, comfort and peace in the world and Hereafter who, giving up all, worship and believe in only One God – Allah Almighty, Who is Omnipotent, or those who fear from many self-made gods?

All things are in the Knowledge of God

All things are in the Knowledge of God

Verses –80 of 165, Section – 9 of 20 (Part – 7)

BisMIllaahir-Rahmaanir-Rahiim

In the name of Allaah, the Beneficent, the Merciful

80.  His people argued with him. He said: Dispute ye with me concerning Allah when He hath guided me? I fear not at all that which ye set up beside Him unless my Lord willeth aught. Lesson

Haaaj-jaHuu – (argued with Him), its origin is Hujjah, which aims “to argue, to criticize, to adduce argument”. The word Muhaajjah has also been derived from it which means “to spoil the argument of others and emphasize one’s own argument”, result of which is nothing but a dispute. Therefore, aim of this word is “to criticize or to dispute”.

It is a characteristic of the human being that he settles a town along with other humankind mutually who are also alike him, and after a few days, those people of the town establish a style of living. Slowly and gradually, they become habitual in such a manner that they think never to leave it. This system of living mutually with one another is called the customs and the traditions.

Some affairs in the customs and traditions are right and some are wrong. To correct those wrong customs and traditions, Prophets and Messengers (peace be upon Them) were sent by Allaah Almighty. They faced hard that the people didn’t want to step back from those customs and traditions. They used to seem their wrong customs and traditions as correct, and rejected the reforms adhered by the Messengers (peace be upon Them) and the Messengers (peace be upon Them) carried on the attempt to teach them.

Abraham (peace be upon Him) was Prophet of Allaah Almighty.  He (peace be upon Him) observed that having faith in the liar gods has prevailed among the people and its correction is incumbent. It was described in the previous verses that He (peace be upon Him) determined that the idols, the stars, the moon, the sun and all other things are unable to be God.

Abraham (peace be upon Him) said to the people that they should give up worship of idols and ascribed partners of Allah Almighty, and believe in only one God, but they were accustomed to worship many gods. Therefore, they began to criticize Prophet Abraham (peace be upon Him) and said: How is it possible?

The dispute among Abraham (peace be upon Him) and His people has been described in this verse. It is commanded that His nation didn’t obey Him and began to argue. Abraham (peace be upon Him) said: You want Me to believe in the liar gods instead of Allaah Almighty like you, How can it be possible?

Allaah Almighty has guided Me towards the right path of His acquaintance by showing His clear signs. So, I (peace be upon Him) find everything helpless before Him, then how can I consider them My God and Creator giving up Allah Almighty? Saying of you people, “If You will not acknowledge our gods then they will punish You angrily”. I don’t believe in them. I am sure that they can do nothing against Me, Neither they can profit Me nor hurt. However, Allah Almighty is Able to do whatsoever He desires, He is My Lord and He is well Aware of everyone’s necessities”.

Turn your face to That Who is Creator of all

Lesson # 740 From the Noble Quran

Turn your face to That Who is Creator of all

Surah ‘Al-‘An-‘aam (Cattle) – Chapter – 6)–Stage – 2

Verses –78 & 79 of 165, Section – 9 of 20 (Part – 7)

BisMIllaahir-Rahmaanir-Rahiim

In the name of Allaah, the Beneficent, the Merciful

78.  And when he saw the sun uprising, he said: This is my Lord! This is biggest of them all. And when it set, he exclaimed: O my people! Lo! I am quit of all that ye associate (with Him).

79.  Lo! I have turned my face toward Him Who created the heavens and the earth, as one by nature upright, and I am not of the idolaters.

Lesson

When it was dawn and the sun manifested with great splendor, the doors and the walls were eliminated, the eyes were in the state of being dazzled due to its glitter, then, Abraham (peace be upon Him) said: Perhaps it (the sun) is able to be my Lord, it is the biggest and splendid despite all of them. At the end of the day, that faded, set entirely, slowly and gradually.

At that time Abraham (peace be upon Him) decided: while the stars, the moon and the sun (all of them) are helpless then nothing of them can be my Lord. So I gave up absolutely all of them and O People! Listen to Me (peace be upon Him): while such raised and bright things cannot be God, then, in which number are your these idols? I deny your all these gods and bow My head before My Lord, Allah – The Wise and The Omnipotent. And I exclaim that I am quit of all that you associate with Him.

Let’s think now deeply on these verses. Abraham (peace be upon Him) saw the sun in the day and thought about its dignity and splendor in the awe-stricken condition that it is biggest even from the stars and the moon, sitting alone at height and it has surrounded the entire things with its own light and heat. Certainly it would be My Lord. At the end of the day, when it set also, then He (peace be upon Him) addressed the people and said: It is sufficient to understand. I declare that I am quit of your all self-made gods and I have turned my face from all things toward only That Majestic Creator, Who created the heavens, the earth and all the creatures among them without any model as one by nature upright, and I do not ascribe anyone or anything as associate of Him.

Prophet Abraham (peace be upon Him) taught this method to the human being for making the sense and wisdom useful and named those people “Muslims” who turn their whole attention to this side by knowing likewise Allah Almighty.

Verses –76 & 77 of 165, Section – 9 of 20 (Part – 7)

BisMIllaahir-Rahmaanir-Rahiim

In the name of Allaah, the Beneficent, the Merciful

76.  When the night grew dark upon him he beheld a star. He said: This is my Lord. But when it set, he said: I love not things that set.

Lesson

Janna – (covered), it is an active verse, Origin of which is Jannun. Jannun means “to cover, to hide”. The word Januun is production of the same origin, which means “concealment, to disappear, to set, to be hidden”. The word Jinn (demon) has also been derived from it, which is a hidden creature and cannot be seen with human eyes. Here it aims “to conceal in darkness”.

‘Afala – (set, disappeared), it is an intransitive verb, and its origin is ‘Afuul (to set, to disappear, to conceal). The word “’afala” is also from its Subject; that is to say “a doer, an agent, a nominative”.

It was described in the verse of previous lesson # 738 that when Prophet Abraham (peace be upon Him) gave up the idols knowing them useless, then Allaah Almighty brightened His wisdom more and He understood that not only the idols are useless but entire things of the world, whether those look very splendid, are not able of Divinity (to be God), though the people have considered them also god. It was still childhood of Prophet Abraham (peace be upon Him) that He began to think in this Matter. The same has been described in this verse and forthcoming verses.

It is commanded that He (peace be upon Him) saw a bright star in the sky during the darkness of the night. He thought: Perhaps it is God and my Lord. After some time, when it disappeared, His heart decided: Such things which set, cannot be God. Later on, He (peace be upon Him) saw the moon uprising and imagined about its Godhead by looking its splendor. That also vanished after a while, and then He said: Unless my Lord guide me towards His own Path, I surely shall become one of the folk who are astray. This event of Prophet Abraham (peace be upon Him) is a fine allegory for thinking about The Noble Personage of Allah Almighty.

Teachings of Islam

ISIS is going astray, contrary to Islam

ISIS is going astray, contrary to Islam

aaaaaa

I examined a meme that attempted to show the Qur’an contains hate-speech towards nonbelievers. The Qur’an is not even close to hate-speech to non-Muslims. This one takes a few passages from the Qur’an and titles itself “ISIS & Radical Islam’s Daily Devotional.” The issue here is not only whether the group that calls itself the “Islamic State” correctly interprets and implements Qur’anic teachings, but whether these verses, prima facie, mean what this meme-maker thinks they do. I will not be addressing every verse here, but some of them. (Extract from Ro Waseem’s text duly amended)

  • Slay the unbelievers wherever you find them.

Full rendering of the Verses of the Noble Quran

Original Verse # 2:191

Waq-tuluuhum  hay-su  saqif-tumuuhum  wa  ‘akhrijuu-hum-min  hay-su  ‘akhrajuukum  wal-fitnatu  ‘ashaddu  minal-qatl. Wa  laa  tuqaatiluuhum  ‘indal-Masjidil  Haraami  hattaa  yu-qaatiluukum  fiih.  Fa-‘in  qaataluukum  faqtuluuhum.  Kazaalika  jazaaa-‘ul-Kaafiriin.

Correct Translationof the verse # 2:191

“And slay them wherever you find them and drive them out of the places whence they have expelled you, for persecution is worse than killing. And do not fight with them at al-Masjid al-Haram (Inviolable Place of Worship) until they first attack you there. But if they attack you (there), then kill them. Such is the recompense of the disbelievers.”

by Ro Waseem  vide:  http://www.patheos.com/blogs/quranalyzeit/2015/06/09/isis-and-radical-islam-an-atheist-examines-a-stupid-meme-kile-jones/

First, a few things to notice: “Expel them from wherever they have expelled you” [italics mine].  “Do not fight them at al-Masjid al-Haram (the “Grand Mosque” in Mecca) until they fight you there. But if they fight you, then kill them” [italics mine]. Does anyone else notice how this verse is not asking Muslims to preemptively kill? Doesn’t this sound more like self-defense?

This falls in line with what 22:40-41 says,

“Permission to fight is given to those against whom war is made, because they have been wronged… Those who have been driven out from their homes unjustly only because they said, ‘Our Lord is God’ — And if God did not repel some men by means of others, there would surely have been pulled down temples and churches and synagogues and mosques.”

Wait–Temples, churches, and synagogues? It’s almost as if the Qur’an is for defending other religions in times of war.

For instance, notice who is killing and attacking first in 3:21,

“Those who disbelieve in the signs of Allah and kill the prophets without right and kill those who order justice from among the people – give them tidings of a painful punishment.”

Also, at the end of 2:193 it says,

“But if they cease, then there is to be no aggression except against the oppressors.”

Except against oppressors. You heard it.

2)     “Muslims must not take infidels as friends.”

Original Verse # 3:28

Laa  yattakhizil-Mu’-mi-nuunal-Kaafiriina  ‘awliyaaa-‘a  min-duunil-Mu’-miniin.  Wa  many-yaf-‘al  zaalika  fa-laysa  minAllaahi  fii  shay-‘in  ‘illaaa  ‘an-tattaquu  minhum  tuqaah.  Wa  yuhazziru-kumUllaahu  Nafsah.  Wa  ‘ilAllaahil-masiir.

Correct Translationof the verse # 3:28

“Let not the believers take disbelievers for their friends in preference to believers. And whoso [of you] does that has no connection with Allah, unless (it be) that ye but guard yourselves against them, taking (as it were) security. And Allah biddith you beware (only) of Himself, and unto Allah is the (journey) [final] destination.”

by Ro Waseem

Does anyone else notice the “rather than believers” part? Or how about the “except when taking precaution against them in prudence”? I wonder what other Qur’anic passages say about this:

60:8: “Allah does not forbid you from those who do not fight you because of religion and do not expel you from your homes – from being righteous toward them and acting justly toward them. Indeed, Allah loves those who act justly.” What if I told Muslims might even have been granted permission to eat with and possibly marry Christians and Jews (“People of the Book”)? Check out 5:5: “This day [all] good foods have been made lawful, and the food of those who were given the Scripture is lawful for you and your food is lawful for them. And [lawful in marriage are] chaste women from among the believers and chaste women from among those who were given the Scripture before you, when you have given them their due compensation, desiring chastity, not unlawful sexual intercourse or taking [secret] lovers.”

Let’s put it this way, if this meme is correct on face value, all the Muslims I know would not be following the Quran.

3)    “Any religion other than Islam is not acceptable.”

Original Verse # 3:85

Wa  many-yabtagi  gayral-‘Islaami  Diinan-  falany-yuqbala  minh.  Wa  huwa  fil-‘Aakhirati  minal-khaasiriin.

Correct Translationof the verse # 3:85

“And whoso seeketh other than Islam (the Surrender to Allah) as religion – never will it be accepted from him, and he, in the Hereafter, will be among the losers.”

by Ro Waseem

Using this verse as a way to support the conclusion that ISIS interprets the Qur’an correctly seems quite mistaken. This says nothing about military action or violence. It is theologically, not militarily, focused. If you don’t believe me, read the few verses following 85 and tell me it’s not theological.

4)     “Maim and crucify the infidels if they criticize Islam.”

 Original Verse # 5:33

‘Innamaa  jazaaa-‘ullaziina  yuhaa-ribuu-nAllaaha  wa  RasuulaHuu  wa  yas-‘awna  fil-‘arzi  fasaadan  ‘any-yuqattaluuu  ‘aw  yusallabuu  ‘aw tuqatta-’a  ‘aydii-him  wa  ‘arjuluhum-min  khilaafin  ‘aw yunfaw  minal-‘arz.  Zaalika  lahum  khiz-yun-  fid-dunyaa  wa lahum  fil- ‘Aakhirati  ‘azaabun  ‘aziim.

Correct Translationof the verse # 5:33

“Indeed, the penalty for those who wage war against Allah and His Messenger and strive upon earth [to cause] corruption is none but that they be killed or crucified or that their hands and feet be cut off from opposite sides or that they be exiled from the land. That is for them a disgrace in this world; and for them in the Hereafter is a great punishment (an awful doom).”

by Ro Waseem

Notice the initial instigator of violence: “Those who wage war against Allah and His Messenger.” Now, I’m no fan of crucifying or lobbing of the hands and feet of enemy offenders, but this is certainly not something particular to Muslims during that time. See what happened to Sumayyah bint Khayyat, Bilal the Abyssinian, or what the Quraysh leadership did to other early Muslims. But this is no tit-for-tat argument. It’s merely pointing to historical context.

Most importantly, I want you to read verse 32: “Because of that, We decreed upon the Children of Israel that whoever kills a soul unless for a soul or for corruption [done] in the land – it is as if he had slain mankind entirely. And whoever saves one – it is as if he had saved mankind entirely. And our messengers had certainly come to them with clear proofs. Then indeed many of them, [even] after that, throughout the land, were transgressors” [italics mine].

So does this verse advocate crucifying and maiming infidels at all times and in all places? No. Does it say to early Muslims, during a war in which they are on the defensive, that they could corporeally punish their oppressors? Possibly. Either way, this is not the same thing this meme attempts to express.

5)     “Muslims must muster all weapons to terrorize the infidels.”

Original Verse # 8:60

Wa  ‘a-‘idduu  lahum-mastata’-tum-min-  quwwatinw-wa  mir-ribaatil-khayli  turhabuuna  bihii  ‘aduw-wAllaahi  wa  ‘aduw-wa-kum  wa  ‘aakhariina  min-  duunihim.  Laa  ta’-lamuunahum.  Allaahu  ya’-lamuhum.  Wa  maa  tunfiquu  min-  shay-‘in  fii  Sabii-LIllaahi  yu-waffa  ‘ilaykum  wa  ‘antum  laa  tuzlamuun.

Correct Translationof the verse # 8:60

“And make ready for them all thou canst of (armed) force and of horses tethered, that thereby you may terrify the enemy of Allah and your enemy and others besides them whom you do not know [but] whom Allah knows. And whatsoever you spend in the cause of Allah, it will be fully repaid to you, and you will not be wronged.”

by Ro Waseem

If only people would read the following verse, which says, “And if they incline to peace, then incline to it [also] and rely upon Allah.” Preparing for oppression to spark fear in oppressors is not the same as a preemptive strike. This is most certainly not what ISIS is doing.

6)     “Make war on the infidels living in your neighborhood.”

Original Verse # 9:123

Yaaa-‘ayyu-hallaziina  ‘aamanuu  qaati-lullaziina  ya-luunakum-minal-kuffaari  wal-yajiduu  fii-kum  gilzah.  Wa’-lamuuu  ‘annAllaaha  ma-‘al-Muttaqiin.

Correct Translationof the verse # 9:123

“O you who have believed, fight those adjacent to you of the disbelievers and let them find in you harshness. And know that Allah is with (those who keep their duty unto Him) the righteous.”

Not only is this Surah dealing with treaties and rules of war (see preceding verse), it’s also about the suffering of early Muslims. Verse 128 says, “There has certainly come to you a Messenger from among yourselves. Grievous to him is what you suffer; [he is] concerned over you.” Muslims were suffering, on the defensive, and having to prepare for attacks. They were not doing what ISIS is doing now. (Also read Qasim Rashid’s amazing piece on Muhammed’s rules of war and Jeremiah Bowden’s excellent piece on war and jihad.)

by Ro Waseem

Now, I’m no scholar of Islamic military jurisprudence (“Fiqh”), but it doesn’t take one to see how misleading this meme is.

Verses –74 & 75 of 165, Section – 9 of 20 (Part ¾ of – 7)

BisMIllaahir-Rahmaanir-Rahiim

In the name of Allaah, the Beneficent, the Merciful

74.  (Remember) when Abraham said unto His father Azar: Takest thou idols for gods? Lo! I see thee and thy folk in error manifest.

75.  Thus did We show Abraham the kingdom of the heavens and the earth that He might be of those possessing certainty.

Lesson

‘Aazar – it is the name of Prophet Abraham’s (peace be upon Him) father, who was an idolater and his entire nation was also idolaters.

‘asnaam – (idols), it is plural of sanam, which means an idol. Sanam is called to a fixed bodily form of any imaginary thing. The idols are also called ‘asnaam (sanam), because those are statues of imaginary gods.

‘aalihah – it is plural of Allah, literal meaning of ‘ilaah. A thing, which touches the heart deeply, aims “the worshipped”.

Malakuut – the system of whole world is called Malak. Little arrangements to this chief are called Malakuut. Everything in the world has its own governing system and then, this system is subordinate to a big collective governor. The first system is Malakuut, while the other is Malak.

It was commanded in the previous verses that you should ask from the infidels: Who guided you to worship the idols deserting from Allah Almighty? The person, who has a very little wisdom, will think certainly that neither the idols can profit anyone and nor hurt.

A narration about Prophet Abraham is being described in this verse that He (peace be upon Him) recognized Allah Almighty by observing the Tokens in the Universe and contrary to Them, found the idols quite useless and worthless. He (peace be upon Him) caused to understand the same to His father also.

It is commanded: See! In what manner, Prophet Abraham (peace be upon Him) said to His father the word of wisdom that: Do you worship these self-made and invented statues and idols, which are made of mud and stone etc. and determine them your gods and worshipped? I know that you and your folk are entangled in an open error manifest. What stupidity would be more than it that you make a statue with your own hands and then begin to worship it?

Next to above discussion, Allah Almighty says: When Our Prophet Abraham (peace be upon Him) gave up the idols, then did We begin to show Him the secrets and the kingdom of the heavens and the earth and told Him that every that thing, which will be seen by You, has its own system and arrangement, and then these all systems have been running under the control of a Splendid System, which has been established by a Sole-Controller – Allah Almighty.

Lesson

Khalaqa – (to create, to make), it has been derived from khalaq, the actual meaning of which is “to prepare any other thing after clipping a part from any larger thing as, a tailor makes a shirt from a cut piece of cloth, which was roughly clipped from a big piece of cloth”. The entire heavens and the earth have been created from one thing duly clipped with correct guess. However, there is a little difference between above both things i.e. the piece of cloth comes short after clipping for the shirt, but that thing does not lessen, from which the heavens, the earth and the whole other creatures among them have been created after clipping.

Suur – As per Arabic language, the Suur means “a (musical) horn prepared duly excavated from its inner side”, a very powerful sound comes out from it if its first end is blown by mouth. Like this, a thing (the Trumpet) is ready in the Invisible World, which will be blown by an Angel, named Israfil (peace be upon Him). Everything will be perished due to its frightful sound. Then, whenever Allaah Almighty will sanction, that Angel (peace be upon Him) will blow in the Trumpet again, the entire human beings (from the beginning to the end) will come back to life due to this sound. That will be the Day of Resurrection. The word Suur has been used for our knowledge only, otherwise, it is not easy to understand its reality at this time.

It was commanded in the previous verse: You should say the idolaters! We cannot be the worshippers of idols because we have known the True Worshipped. Following virtues and excellence of That Original Worshipped have been described in these verses:

  • Allaah Almighty is the Lord of the entire Worlds.

  • He it is before Whom all the mankind will be accountable and gathered on the Day of Resurrection.

  • He it is Who created the heavens and the earth in Truth.

  • He is the Creator by saying the one word only “Kun” (Be).

  • His Word is the Truth. Surely, that is done, what He says.

  • His will be the Sovereignty on the Day of Resurrection.

  • He is Knower of the Invisible and the Visible.

Lessons from Holy Qur'an

Be careful: The devil infatuates the mankind

Lesson # 736 From Holy Qur’aan

Be careful: The devil infatuates the mankind

Surah ‘Al-‘An-‘aam (Cattle) – Chapter – 6)–Stage – 2

Verse – 71a of 165, Section – 9 of 20 (Part – 7)

BisMIllaahir-Rahmaanir-Rahiim

In the name of Allaah, the Beneficent, the Merciful

Say: shall we cry, instead of unto Allaah, unto that which neither profiteth us nor hurteth us, and shall we turn back after Allaah hath guided us, like one bewildeth, whom the devils have infatuated in the earth, who hath companions who invite him to the guidance (saying): Come unto us?                    Qul  ‘anad-‘uu  min  duuNIllaahi  maa  laa  yanfa-‘unaa  wa  laa  yazurrunaa  wa  nuraddu  ‘alaaa  ‘a’-qaabinaa  ba’-da  ‘iz  hadaa-nAllaahu  kallazis-tahwat-hush-shayaa-tiinu  fil-‘arzi  hayraan.  Lahuuu  ‘as-haabuny-yad-‘uunahuuu  ‘ilal-huda’-tinaa.

Lesson

‘A’-qaabun – this word is plural of “’Aqab”, which means “Heel”.

‘As-tahwat – it is past tense, which has been derived from ‘is-tahwaaa’, which means “to mislead, to infatuate”. ‘Ash-shayaa-tiin – it is plural of Shaytaan (Satan), the devil. It aims “those evil spirits, who are called “ignis, ghost, demon etc. which are unseen but can be felt by other means”.

It is commanded that the Messenger (grace, glory, blessings and peace be upon Him) should say to the disbelievers: Do you want from us that we should worship and cry unto the stones, the trees etc. and forsake Allaah Almighty, whether you know that neither those can profit us and nor hurt? Do you wish to turn us back, while Allaah Almighty has guided and led us towards the Straight Path? Certainly we shall never turn away from that Guidance.

Allaah Almighty says: Ask them! What is your opinion about that person, who is going on the Straight Path with his well-wishers, lovers, beloveds, friends and companions, but the mischievous, selfish, tyrant devils cause to desert him from his associates by pointing him out, and leave him bewildered in the forest? Now he has been rambling hither and thither senseless due to the impression of evil spirits. Sometime he rushes toward a thing and the other time he runs toward any other thing. His friends and companions are calling him with sympathy and say: If you will come unto us, you will be set free from these confusions. But he is under the control of astray devils and unable to hear the voice of his own people? If we shall give up Islam now, then our condition will be totally the same as that person.

We should learn the lesson from this verse that we should not be separate from the Way of True Muslims due to tempt by evil desires. Otherwise, we shall gain nothing except distress and confusion. And even the voice of our well-wisher friends will not reach our ears, because the desires make a man blind and deaf, and leave him alone bewildered.

Lesson

Preaching is incumbent upon the Muslims and it is the same duty which has been prescribed upon Muhammad, the Messenger (grace, glory, blessings and peace be upon Him) by Allaah Almighty, and after Him, it has been prescribed upon the Muslim Nation, which is His Successor. Once earlier, the topic of preaching has already been discussed in this Chapter (Surah).

Now, the second time, which three verses we recited in the previous four lessons, not only the preaching has been prescribed upon the Nation into them, but we can know the way of preaching also. This lesson will reflect on it so that after understanding the importance of this duty, it may be performed in a correct manner.

Last three verses are a link of this chain. Abstract from the first verse of them is “You should withdraw from those people, who meddle with the Revelations of Holy Qur’aan (when they listen), disrespect the verses by their tongue or motions and are not ready to hear with humanity, because in such condition, there is a fear “By sitting with them, our names may be written in the list of wrongdoing people. Then you should not go unto them until they meddle with any other topic”.

The idolaters of Makkah used to do so, that, after hearing the Revelations of Holy Qur’aan, they used to mock with Them. Due to this reason, the Muslims thought: What form of their guidance will be, because as soon as we withdraw from their meeting, they begin to meddle and jest, curse and taunt rudely in the same manner?

It has been replied in the next verse: In such condition, those people who withdraw and ward off evil are not accountable for them in aught. Moreover, it is commanded also that the reminder about the commands of Holy Qur’aan must be given them that haply they too, who are wise of them, may ward off evil.

In the third verse, it has been described very clearly that you should forsake those rude people who take their religion for a pastime and a jest, and whom the life of the world has beguiled. But even then, it has been commanded that you should remind the mankind hereby Revelations of Holy Qur,aan, admonition and advice lest a soul be destroyed by what it earned. It can be understood from this description that “If there is any fear that whenever we shall visit them, they will mock with us”, in this form, admonishing them is not incumbent.

Therefore, in this situation, such a method of preaching should be chosen that the duty of preaching is performed as well as the cause of conflict is not born. It can be known by thinking that its only way is: The Muslims should prove it the best religion by acting upon their own religion themselves. They should correct their own condition before saying or hearing others in such a manner that everyone begin to say: No doubt; these people are the best in morality, business, social relationship and politics. They lead all in sympathy, advice and human well-wishing. They are embodied incomparable of union and amity.

Whenever we shall expose ourselves to view duly corrected and the people will know that, truly, we are the best people, then they will adopt our way automatically. Going unto the non-Muslims with the present condition, in which the Muslims are fallen, is like treating ourselves with contempt. In the present form, we cannot say even our own Muslims, because they will reply us at the spot: Look at your own at first. Then saying to others is useless. What can we hope from others in such condition? So the best method of preaching is: Produce yourselves as a pattern for others and along with it, cause to hear the Message to other people.

Lessons from Holy Qur'an

A painful Doom is waiting for them, who disbelieve

Lesson # 734 From Holy Qur’aan

A painful Doom is waiting for them, who disbelieve

Surah ‘Al-‘An-‘aam (Cattle) – Chapter – 6)–Stage – 2

Verse – 70b of 165, Section – 8 of 20 (Part – 7)

BisMIllaahir-Rahmaanir-Rahiim

In the name of Allaah, the Beneficent, the Merciful

And if it offer every compensation it will not be accepted from it. Those are they who are perished by their own deserts. For them is drink of boiling water and a painful doom, because they disbelieved.                  Wa  ‘in-  ta’-dil  kulla  ‘ad-lil-laa  yu’-khaz  minhaa.  ‘Ulaaa-‘ikalla-ziina  ‘ubsiluu  bimaa  kasabuu.  Lahum  sharaabum-min  hamiiminw-wa  ‘azaabun  ‘aliimum-bimaa  kaanuu  yakfuruun.

 images (13)

Lesson

Ta’-dil – (offer compensation), this word is from ‘Adl, which means “equality” as per Arabic language. That thing can be compensation of any other thing, which is equal to the other. Therefore, here it aims ‘compensation’.

Sharaabun – (a drink), in Arabic, every drinkable thing is called sharaab, as every eatable thing is called ta-‘aam. There are some other words for the forbidden liquor (sharaab) like ‘Khumar’ etc. in Arabic language.

Hamiim – (boiling), this word is derived from hamam. Two more famous words are in use from its origin: 1. Hamaam – The bath-room, where hot water is available and the hamaam is also kept hot. 2. Hummaa – it means ‘Fever’.

It is appendix of previous verse. It was described in the first part of this verse (previous lesson) that they will not find any protector or intercessor on the Day of Resurrection except Allaah Almighty. Now it is being explained that if they will offer even every compensation, which they will have, to get rid of that Day’s calamity, it will not be possible. Entire remunerations of the whole world will be useless There. Suppose! They have the entire world and by offering it, they want to be saved, even then they will not be able to escape. Only good works and belief will be useful There. There will be no source of their deliverance while their own deeds would be cause of their seizure.

It is commanded that even the biggest compensation will not be accepted before Allaah Almighty. On the Doomsday, the condition of such people will be that, ill-luck of their evil deeds would have surrounded them from all around and they would be standing as prisoners in the Court of Allaah Almighty like criminals to be punished. Their wicked acts will become handcuffs and fetters, and those will tie their hands and feet.

They would have drunk big glasses of cold water in the world. They would not have talked except the bottles pressed in the ice. They would have remained sitting and sleeping in the soft chairs and quilted bedding comfortably. But There, their disbelief only will be kept in front. Worldly pomp, property and dignity will not be useful There, no concession whether they were honored and well off people of the world. For drinking, boiling water will be given to them, and they will suffer a painful doom of body and soul of every sort, and that will be only because they disbelieved in Allaah Almighty and turned away from His Commands in the world.
